The WriterGal's first ever Point of View meeting was a big success! We were very honored to have Nancy Salem, publisher of New Mexico Business Weekly as our guest. Nancy shared her insight on the local economy, her distinguished career and resources for independent creative professionals. She was inspiring, informative and funny. Now we're wondering: how do you top that?! Stay tuned for another POV event in the spring.

Hey Gals

For you wordplay types out there who want a good laugh, try playing around with Google Scribe, Google's new autocomplete service. You start typing and then the service will autocomplete your thought based on models of most frequently used words and phrases. Try well know intros like "Fourscore and seven years ago..." Or go with something mundane like "I like to..." It autocompleted that with: "I like to play with the big dogs in the world."

If you come up with a good Google Scribe phrase, share it with the group!

The WriterGal Network is focusing on partnerships this fall as a way to support our community and spread the word about our fantastic members and organization. In our first partnership venture at team of WriterGals is designing and writing the online newsletter for NMAMA (the local chapter of the American Marketing Association). We'll be announcing more partnerships soon!

Word is spreading about the dynamic WriterGal Network! In recent weeks we've received multiple inquiries each week from prospective members. In August we added five new members to our ranks.

We have a bunch of cool WriterGal postcards (created by Ellen Mather and Leah Sandman -- thanks!) ready to be sent out by our wonderful members. We're asking each and every WriterGal Network member to get a stack and mail them out to their contacts as a way of getting the word out about our group. Please contact Megan (332-2884 or megan@meganflemingwrites.com) to pick up your stack and get them in the mail SOON. Thanks!

Hi Gals

We have a great opportunity to work with the local chapter of the American Marketing Association on creating their newsletter. Our members will create the content and design for the e-newsletter and in return the WriterGals will receive several forms of recognition from the AMA. We already have a volunteer editor and four writers who will be working on the newsletter. We do need a designer who is willing to create a newsletter template for the project.

The WriterGal Network works! Recently I had a project which required sourcing subject matter experts to write for a client of mine. I was looking for people with a very specific skill set and didn't know anyone in my personal network. So I put the word out to the WriterGals, and sure enough one of them connected me with an associate of one of her clients. (What's that -- a professional acquaintance two times removed?!) I followed that lead which lead me to someone all the way across the country who will probably be a perfect fit!
