WriterGals Celebrates Five Years, Debuts New Web Site, Logo, Structure
NM Women Writers, Editors, Designers Expand Network
Albuquerque, NM. WriterGals, the network of New Mexico-based writers, editors, graphic designers and Web developers formed in 2004, is proud to celebrate its fifth anniversary with the debut of a new Web site, logo and membership structure. What began with a small gathering of women at the Route 66 Diner in Albuquerque, has grown to over 30 members who meet regularly to share ideas, advice, project leads and professional support for each other. Visit www.writergals.com for complete details.
“We’ve matured from a fairly informal group into one that now boasts a great logo and Web site designed and written by our members,” say WriterGal spokeswoman Megan Fleming. “Not only do we share our love of writing and design, but when we collaborate, our writing, editing and creative communications experiences and perspectives become more powerful and persuasive, resulting in top quality products and services for our clients around the country.”
The new Web site, www.writergals.com, replaces the former “forum” style site and its clunky URL with an updated version and a new domain name geared to generate more attention – and business for the WriterGals. The new site includes:
- A searchable database of member profiles by name or skill category.
- A public blog where members write about their businesses and upcoming events.
- Links to the WriterGal Facebook fan page and Twitter account to keep up with the activities of the group.
- A private forum for members to share ideas, information, upcoming meeting dates, project questions and job leads.
“Joining the WriterGals has always been a fairly informal process,” explains Fleming. “We want to keep our group low-maintenance and welcoming while upholding the quality and professionalism of our members. To do that, and to raise awareness of the group as an invaluable, accessible resource for businesses of all kinds, we’ve developed membership guidelines that will allow us to attract additional talented communications professionals.”
Membership in WriterGals continues to be referral-based, with each member meeting certain requirements, including residency in New Mexico, demonstration of at least five years of professional experience in her field, and verification that her primary source of income comes from providing communication services. There is no charge to join the group.
