New Mexico Business Weekly released its Corporate Heroes issue this month. Naturally, i'm hoping you enjoy the profile on Dawn Davide of La Bella Spa!

The Tour de France starts Saturday and the World Cup is in full swing. Fans can brush up on this epic sports summer and non-fans can see a little skin in my blog at www.sportsslant.com/CHLblog/

A website promoting National Assistance Dog Week has just been launched by my client, Marcie Davis of Working Like Dogs. National Assistance Dog week is August 8-14 this year. We got a late start, but Evolution Web Development really came through on producing the beautiful site very quickly.  Visit the site at www.assistancedogweek.org.

We have a bunch of cool WriterGal postcards (created by Ellen Mather and Leah Sandman -- thanks!) ready to be sent out by our wonderful members. We're asking each and every WriterGal Network member to get a stack and mail them out to their contacts as a way of getting the word out about our group. Please contact Megan (332-2884 or megan@meganflemingwrites.com) to pick up your stack and get them in the mail SOON. Thanks!

Hi Gals

We have a great opportunity to work with the local chapter of the American Marketing Association on creating their newsletter. Our members will create the content and design for the e-newsletter and in return the WriterGals will receive several forms of recognition from the AMA. We already have a volunteer editor and four writers who will be working on the newsletter. We do need a designer who is willing to create a newsletter template for the project.

One of my favorite tasks of the year is in mid to late spring when I start bugging our clients about the outcomes of the grants we’ve written. There are usually several grants awarded that we haven’t yet heard about. Plus, when our clients respond to my inquiry about the outcomes of their grants, they often include morale-boosting tidbits like, “Way to go!” and, “Thanks for all of your hard work!” and one of my favorites, “You rock!!!”

Temps are rising and the brain is softening.... Take a well-deserved break! Grab an ice cold lemonade and check out my latest blog post at www.sportsslant.com/chlblog.

Driving to Success Book CoverLeila Johnson, co-owner of Data-Scribe®, has written a book called Driving to Success: Let Your Spirit Take the Wheel. The e-book edition goes on sale today, May 20th. It will be released as a paperback in October 2010.

Business Owner Launches Book to Coincide with Albuquerque Car Care Month

Rio Rancho, New Mexico (April 26, 2010) - Leila Johnson's book, Driving to Success: Let Your Spirit Take the Wheel, will be published on May 20, 2010 to coincide with Albuquerque's Car Care Month. The book uses a driving theme to explain how entrepreneurs and professionals can be successful by taking different paths in their professional lives.

New Mexico Magazine will be publishing my profile on Jennifer James in the June issue in the Creative Fires (I think that's the name) section.

I'm thrilled, but what I want to share is the value of social networking media. Because I write about Albuquerque and New Mexico for my examiner column, the editor of NM Magazine has been following my tweets (I tweet as OffbeatTravel).

When I sent in my query, she recognized my (real) name and moved the proposal to the top of the "read and consider" heap.

The WriterGal Network works! Recently I had a project which required sourcing subject matter experts to write for a client of mine. I was looking for people with a very specific skill set and didn't know anyone in my personal network. So I put the word out to the WriterGals, and sure enough one of them connected me with an associate of one of her clients. (What's that -- a professional acquaintance two times removed?!) I followed that lead which lead me to someone all the way across the country who will probably be a perfect fit!
